Reiki is a Japanese form of stress reduction and relaxation that promotes mental, spiritual and physical healing. The word Reiki translates to “universal life energy.” That energy flows from the practitioner’s hands into the client allowing for the relaxation and healing effect.
Reiki is not attached to any religion or specific belief system, but rather is a specific form of energy work designed to enhance healing.
The word chakra means wheel of light in Sanskrit, an ancient language of India. The concept is that chakras are energy centers in your body. The seven main chakras run along the spine, from the base up to the crown of the head. Balanced chakras allow for the body-mind connection to function at its best. When any or all become weak or blocked, physical and emotional imbalances can develop.
Practitioners channel Reiki to manipulate the subtle energies within the chakras to restore the body's imbalances, using your own energy to heal!
A Reiki session lasts between 45 - 60 minutes. Intuitive sessions last between 60-90 minutes. The length of a session may vary depending on the the client's needs.
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows you to relax and breathe deeply. You do not need to wear special clothing or remove any clothing, but you will need to remove your shoes,
As expected, every client has a different experience, depending on your needs or intentions for the session. Initially, you will feel a sense of calm as your body relaxes. Throughout the session, you may feel other sensations like tingling or see colors, or even have past memories come to mind. You may get emotional, or feel the presence of a loved one that has passed on. People often begin to feel better in some way during their first session. Results range from subtle to dramatic.
When the session is over, we’ll discuss how you feel and what you experienced, if you choose to discuss it. I’ll also answer any questions that come up as a result of the session. My clients usually leave feeling much better than when they came in and sleep really well that night.
It’s likely for you to feel some improvement after just one session, but you may benefit even more when you have multiple sessions. Depending on what you want to work on, once a week for pain or every two weeks for emotional issues. For first-timers, I usually suggest three sessions (see the 3-session package available) about a week apart to start. If you’re complementing medical treatment for physical or mental health with Reiki, then it makes sense for you to have sessions periodically throughout your treatment.
